CREATION OF THE HEAVENS
BY
J. LOUIS GUTHRIE, PH.D.
LOCATED M. B. I. PRINTERY
DEDICATION There are many things that should go into a book. One thing is usually left out: the causes and persons whose faithful and steady consistence has made the book possible. If I should go into all, I would take up too much space in the book. However, to a few persons may be the credit for this work. First; the young men, ministers of God's word who sit before me daily and seek for the great truths of that same word, for these young men, my trust whom God has given me to instruct, this little volume is affectionately dedicated.
J. Louis Guthrie Ph. D FOREWORD. The doctrine of Creation is one of the very much discussed and at the same time very much ridiculed of all the doctrines which are found in the Bible. The ideas of men concerning the creation or lack of creation, as they have been worked out in the scientific theories for the last several thousand years, have all arisen in the philosophies of men, practically without a study of the source material of the Word of God to give the correct data on this fact, have all been in a hit or miss discussion for now at least 2500 years. The philosophies of the Greeks and Romans of about that long ago have influenced men more than they know. The writer determined to approach the subject from the three standpoints outlined in the following book. He determined to investigate each statement of the creation as closely as possible without any prejudice toward any one of the three. When two of these had been investigated in the light of science, they proved inadequate to the case, because they left one important question without a stone of foundation. That question is, “Primary Origins." These scientist all stopped with phenomena and gave no postulate as to the origin of some huge facts. They are four in number. 1. Existence, 2. Plan and Order, 3. End [of] Limits, 4. Innate or Apriora Judgments. These four ruled out the scientific theories. Then the only place to go was to Revealed Word of God. So the author chose to give the word as he found it in the languages as they have come down to us in the copies of the scriptures. The results have been pleasing and very informing to both the writer and the reader. J. Louis Guthrie, August 194[ ] Note: This reproduction was hand typed in 2007 from a copy owned by Dr. James M. Phillips and edited where necessary. Because of hole-punches and pages that ran off the edge of the copy, many words were filled in by considering the context. Brackets, [ ], are placed around words that were missing from this copy. Where the word which Dr. Guthrie used could not be determined, the brackets were left empty. |
